Mr. John David Morgan, age 71 of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 from injuries he received in a recent traffic accident. He was born on February 21, 1947 to the late John Benjamin Morgan and Virginia Elizabeth Baker Morgan. He attended Buchanan High School where he was active in athletics and earned the designation of becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated with honors from Georgia Tech where he obtained his bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering.
Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Lea Morgan of Atlanta, Shani Morgan Thomas (Dewey) of Marietta and Virginia Suzanne Morgan (Chris Jeffers) of Atlanta; two sisters, Beverly Morgan Bruemmer (Bob) of Carrollton, Cynthia Morgan Bullock (Alan) of Atlanta and three grandchildren, Vivian Wester Thomas of Marietta, Audrey Baker Thomas of Marietta and Sebastian Morgan Jeffers of Atlanta.
Mr. Morgan joined Georgia Tech shortly after graduation as a Director of Resource Development. Mr. Morgan’s career was focused primarily in the executive search business where hebecame a partner with two large international search firms based in Atlanta. He was a passionate supporter of Georgia Tech and also served as a board member of the Atlanta Zoological Society. Mr. Morgan moved back to Buchanan in 2001. Mr. Morgan was a member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church.
In keeping with Mr. Morgan’s wishes he will be cremated.
