Howell Boyce Thornton

Mr. Howell Boyce Thornton, age 73,of Buchanan passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017.  Mr. Thornton was born in Buchanan, Georgia, on April 6, 1944.  He was the son of the late William Earnest Thornton and the late I.V. Wood Thornton.  Mr. Thornton was retired from Lockheed.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Carter; one sister, Jo Ann Cliffe; two brothers, Alfred Thornton and Ernie Thornton.  He was a member of Buchanan First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Sue Jackson Thornton of Buchanan; one daughter, Julie Finleyson of Carrollton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Waters of Carrollton; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Carol Thornton of Panama City, FL; two sisters-in-law, Joan Sanders of Buchanan and Verla Thornton of Cedartown; three grandchildren, Whitney White, Taylor Finleyson and Zack Finleyson; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday, October 16, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Allen Wilburn officiating.  Music will be rendered by Bill and Carol Brown.  Interment will follow in Edwards Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mr. Thornton to: Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 338, Buchanan, GA  30113.
