Henry Donald Hamil

Mr. Henry Donald Hamil, 74, of Bremen passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018.  Mr. Hamil was born in Haralson County, Georgia, on April 11, 1943.  He was the son of the late James Lee Hamil and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Bush Hamil.  Mr. Hamil was a farmer and business man with interests in many local businesses. 

Throughout his life, Mr. Hamil was involved with his family businesses, Hamil Barber Supply, Hamil Transportation and he served on the local school board for several years.

Mr. Hamil was passionate about his family and spending time on the farm. He could always be found out in the barn with the horses or on a tractor tending to the fields. When asked, Mr. Hamil would say the holidays were his favorite time of the year because he would have all his children and grandchildren together under one roof.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dianne Goldin Hamil of Bremen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Drs. Monicha Hamil and David Drew of Carrollton, and Paula and Wallace Johnson of Bethlehem; one son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Selena Hamil of Bremen; one sister, Juanita Bishop of College Park; seven grandchildren, Lee Drew, Jessica Drew, Wes Johnson, Alli Johnson, Tori Johnson, Brooke Hamil and Will Hamil; and a number of other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Sweet Meadow Farms at Beech Creek Event Center, 1115 Beech Creek Road, Tallapoosa, Georgia, with Dr. Mason Bush and Danny Hutcheson officiating with remarks by family members.  There will be a reception to follow.

Mr. Hamil received a heart transplant in December of 2005 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Hamil and his family are very grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at Emory who have been an important part of their lives over the last 13 years.
