Mr. Harold Glenn Philpot, age 84, of Buchanan passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018. Mr. Philpot was born in Buchanan, Georgia, on July 30, 1933. He was the son of the late Joseph Philpot, Jr. and the late Elsie Irene Grant Philpot. Mr. Philpot was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Ford Motor Company. Mr. Philpot also owned Philpot Radio and TV Sales and Service and had served for over thirty years as the executive director of the Buchanan Housing Authority. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Artemus Philpot, Commodore Philpot and Emory Philpot.
Mr. Philpot was a life-long and faithful member of Tallapoosa East Baptist Church. He was a deacon and served as the Church Treasurer for over fifty years.
Survivors include his wife, Velda Posey Philpot of Buchanan; one daughter, Cynthia Philpot of Carrollton; one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Craig and Kim Philpot of Birmingham, AL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Jim Bowman of Lithia Springs, and Mattie and Ronnie Martin of Griffin; three grandchildren, Emily Philpot Peebles and her husband Doug, Joseph Andrew Philpot and Elizabeth Grace Philpot; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from Tallapoosa East Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Mason Bush and Rev. Dr. Thomas Ward officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bernard Whitton. Interment will follow in Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery with Danny Hutcheson officiating. The Deacons of Tallapoosa East Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
