Elijah Buck Holcombe, age 33, of Buchanan, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He was born on May 28, 1986 in Rome to Creig Holcombe and Donna Perry Holcombe. Eli is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, LeRoy and Ruby Perry; paternal grandparents, Metz Holcombe and Charles Curley Roberts.
Eli was a 2004 graduate of Haralson County High School. He was also a beloved member of Freedom Point Church in Carrollton, serving weekly in the welcome center and participating in community outreach alongside his church family.
Eli found joy in simple, everyday things many take for granted; his excitement was infectious. He was also a fan of NASCAR and all things pop culture, leading to numerous adventures. As a result, he became a proud member of the Brony and Furry communities, whom he regarded as some of his closest friends.
Eli never met a stranger and was known for his warm smile and hugs. He touched many lives with his thoughtful, loving nature and was always kind-hearted towards others. Eli was a treasure to all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include besides his parents, two sisters and brother-in-law, Lee Ann Smith of Cincinnati, OH, and Jennifer (Ben) Kilgore of Buchanan; one brother, Randall Holcombe of Tallapoosa; paternal grandmother, Betty Roberts of Bremen; two nephews, Nate Smith and Cooper Smith both of Cincinnati, OH; two aunts and uncle, PJ (Jody) Theobald of Milton, Terri Lee Perry of Atlanta, and several other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 5:00 PM from the chapel of Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Doug Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in Buchanan City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In keeping with the family’s wishes he will be cremated.
