Mr. Donald Wilson Thompson, age 77, of Buchanan passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. He was born in Princeton, West Virginia on Thursday, December 11, 1941. Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Thompson and by one son, Jeffrey Thompson.
Mr. Thompson served in the United States Army. Later in life he made a career and retired as a carpenter. Mr. Thompson was a member of Old Path Baptist Church in Bremen where he often enjoyed playing his bass guitar and singing. He was also an avid fisherman, enjoyed music and loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Jewel (Fultz) Thompson of Buchanan; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Eddie and Bridgette Thompson of Willis, Texas, David Mathena of Washington State, Frank and Sandy Mathena of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Carson and Bonnie White of Princeton, West Virginia; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Rebecca Chadick of Texas, Angie Thompson of Oklahoma, Michelle and Tony Stewart of Heflin, Judy and Anthony Crook of Temple, Katrina and Marty England of Fritch, Texas and Sandy and James Wade of Cleveland, Georgia; his mother, Charlotte Parks of Amarillo, Texas; twenty two grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
In accordance with Mr. Thompson’s wishes, he will be cremated,
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 3P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Reverend Kent Bankston officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the service hour.
