Mrs. Beverly Hanes Backus (Boazman) Mills, age 70, of Rockmart (Yorkville Community) passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017. Mrs. Mills was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 21, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Hanes Backus and the late Ray Booth Backus. Mrs. Mills retired as a supervisor with the Social Security Administration and worked from 1991 until 1996 as a scorer and fan club president for Joe Nemechek in Nextel Nascar team and scorer for Michael Waltrip in both Busch and Nextel Nascar racing. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lincoln Mills; and two sisters, Barbara Frazier and Benetta “Bennie” Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Alisa “Lisa” Ann Mills of Auburndale, FL; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Robert “Bob” Thomas and Cynthia Boazman of Rome, William “Bill” Shane and Kristy of Buchanan, “Michael” Cwayne Mills of Auburndale, FL, Curtis “Curt” Anthony and Tracy Mills of Winer Haven, FL, and Anthony “Kris” and Sherry Mills of Texarkana, AR; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Larry Martin of McDonough; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Yorkville Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Yorkville Baptist Church Thursday afternoon from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M.
