Shirley Ayers Obituary

Shirley Mae Brown Ayers, age 87 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Buchanan on November 26, 1936, she was the only daughter of the late Henry Marvin Brown and the late Jewell Magdalene Holcombe Brown,  In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by brothers, Jim Brown and Carl Brown.

The perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman, Shirley took great pride in caring for her family.  She was employed at Arrow Shirt Company for many years but left there to be home and take care of her precious grandchildren.  Shirley's life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events, recitals, and anything else where they were involved.  At a moment's notice she was ready to go to support and cheer them on all the while taking as many pictures as she could. All her family was important to her, and cousins' day was never missed.  She was a faithful and dedicated member of Buchanan First Baptist Church for more than 60 years.

Shirley taught us all how to celebrate life and was the ultimate birthday party planner. Gran Gran was the best wife, Mama, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister & friend. Keeper of all the memories, she took your picture whether you wanted her to or not.

Left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband of 67 years, Lowell Ayers; her daughter and son-in-law, Faith and Randy Pullen; her sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Lisa Ayers, Mark Ayers, and Anthony and Lisa Ayers, all of Buchanan; and her grandchildren, Todd Ayers, Trent and Anna Ayers, Abigail Ayers and Carl Gable, Allen and Heather Pullen, Adam and Margaret Pullen, Taylor and Kannon Madden, and Haley Ayers and Tyler Motes; her precious great-grandchildren: Calyn, Caven, Talon, Natalyn, Landon, Parker, Lively, Sadie, and one on her way, Millie  Also surviving are a brother, Jerry Brown; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Shirley Ayers will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Buchanan First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Allen Wilburn and Rev. Kevin Ayers officiating.  Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Todd Ayers, Trent Ayers, Allen Pullen, Adam Pullen Kannon Madden, Tyler Motes, and Carl Gable.
