Harold G. Rowley III, age 71 of Whitesburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Rip was born on June 3, 1952, in Miami, Florida, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. and Caroline Rowley, Jr. He and his family moved to Georgia when he was 5 years old and he lived in Georgia the rest of his life.
Rip graduated Briarwood High School in East Point where he was a state champion wrestler. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1973 where he was a champion Golden Glove Boxer. Rip was a fighter and fought his lung disease to the end.
Rip spent many years enjoying life on his land in Whitesburg, the Rowleyrosa, and riding motorcycles with his friends. After retirement from Georgia Power, he enjoyed his friends, his Harley Davidson, and his land. Rip was described by friends as always being there to help out. He was the true definition of a loyal friend, having many friends from his grammar and high school days with whom he kept in touch regularly. Rip will be deeply missed.
In accordance with his wishes, Rip will be cremated
Cremation services are entrusted to Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan.
